Jim Abell

I started flying hot air balloons in Santa Rosa, CA back in 2000, and received a commercial license in the fall of 2001. Since that time I’ve flown in the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta for the last 6 years, The Windsor Balloon Classic the last 5 years and The Great Reno Balloon Race the last 4 years.

During the summer months I fly part time for a commercial ride operator in Sonoma County.

In the fall of 2007 I became an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner for Hot Air Balloons.

We own a Lindstrand 90, “Kiphaven” named after our son Kip.

My full time job is a 767 Captain for United Airlines.
