The Balloonmeister & Pilot of Star*Lite - Steve Peters

Since my first flight I have accumulated well over 600 hours as PIC and have been fortunate to have my wife, Kathy, as my crew chief. One year later I had my commercial license and I started a ride business with two other local balloonists from Auburn, WA. In 1988 I purchased my second balloon as part of a contract with Kodak to fly their banner at various NW rallies. About the same time I became balloonmeister for the Balloon Stampede in Walla Walla, WA. This continued for about a dozen years, until I became balloonmeister here in Bend. In 1992 I purchased my current balloon, Star*Lite and in 1993 we took the new balloon to a rally in France, flying in the Loire Valley. We still enjoy attending several NW rallies during the summer season with the friends we have had as crew for many years.

Since we moved to Sunriver two years ago, I have enjoyed flying locally and working with the Chamber as balloonmeister on Balloons Over Bend. With the 2004 rally just around the corner, we are busy planning for another great event.
